Over 35,000 Maui homes now have rooftop solar installations, collectively generating more power than any single utility-scale project on the island.
Path to 100%
Hawaii has mandated 100% renewable energy by 2045. With 50% achieved, Maui is on track to meet or exceed this goal.
"This milestone shows what's possible when a community commits to clean energy," said County Mayor Richard Bissen. "Our residents have led the way with rooftop solar."
What's Next
Continued growth in residential solar and battery storage, combined with planned utility-scale projects, is expected to push Maui past 70% renewable by 2030.
